Dear Mr. Tubero: After your crews completed residing my house and replacing a leaking deck roof and garage ceiling, I recommended your firm to three of my neighbors. At least one did hire you for a new roof. Another one went with some other firm, doubles the low bidder. As an astronaut once said when asked how confident he felt before blastoff, “How would you feel if you knew that every part was made by the lowest bidder?” This was my second neighbor’s experience. His contractor replaced a roof that did not leak with a roof that poured water into his house during the recent downpours. When he next saw me, he told me that he should have taken my advice to use ADK. I believe I advised him well. Your project manager Tyson Hooser did wonders dealing with a stingy and reluctant insurance agent, quite apart from his graciousness and alacrity in dealing with me as a client. Wonder of wonders, your crews arrived when he said they would, did expert work, and left the worksite clean. One example. My deck roof has a wrought iron surround with posts embedded in holding boxes filled with cement. The originals were rendered unusable by the force needed to remove the surround so the roof could be laid. Your roofer sent a worker to fix this. The original boxes could not be duplicated, so he used electrical junction boxes instead. They turned out to be a perfect solution. All that’s left to me to do is paint them when I clean and repaint the surround – something I’m trying to get around to do before the weather closes in. Finally, you did the whole job for the restitution made by the insurance company, under Tyson’s patient and insistent prodding. Your work cost us almost nothing out of pocket. In sum, our experience with you, with Tyson, and with your firm was in complete antithesis to the many, many stories out there about victims of slow, uncaring, or simply incompetent contractors. You should be proud of your people, yourself, and your professional reputation. You are free to give my telephone number as a reference to your competence and integrity.September 15 2007 – P.G |
